 The Borrowed Hanukkah Latkes by Linda Glaser

When Rachel’s family’s Hannukah dinner is suddenly increased by 8 people, Rachel and her mother must figure out how to make enough latkes for every guest, but they are out of potatoes and all of the stores are closed. Rachel decides to ask her neighbor, Mrs. Greenberg, to borrow some potatoes and invite her over for dinner. Mrs. Greenberg is “stubborn as an ox” and refuses to impose on Rachel’s family’s dinner, but Rachel is persistent and tries to convince her to join them.
